Guernsey Finance will host its first Guernsey Pensions Seminar, titled “Home of Global Mobility”, in London on 10 June, bringing together senior industry practitioners to explore how international pension solutions can support businesses and individuals operating across borders.
Taking place at RSA House, the seminar will examine the role Guernsey plays in helping employers, globally mobile workforces and internationally focused SMEs navigate an increasingly complex pensions landscape.
The event will focus on both corporate and personal pension plans, including International Pension Plans and International Savings Plans, and will consider how well-governed international structures can support multinational businesses, employees working across jurisdictions and local workforces in remote or emerging markets.
A panel of senior practitioners from across the pensions, legal, tax and advisory communities, will discuss the island’s depth of expertise, regulatory stability and specialist service provider base, as well as the need to improve awareness of international pension options among companies with global reach.
The seminar will conclude with a keynote address from Helen Dean CBE, Governor of the Pensions Policy Institute. Helen’s career working in government and in financial services has focussed on improving financial resilience for individuals and families across the UK.
Helen developed the policy and legislation for the pension reforms that led to auto enrolment and the establishment of National Employment Savings Trust (Nest), later becoming its CEO in 2015. She was awarded a CBE in the 2021 New Year Honours list for her services to pension saving.
Helen said: “People’s lives and careers are increasingly spanning multiple countries, yet many pension systems still assume we stay in one place. I’m looking forward to discussing how international savings solutions are adapting to this new reality, and why Guernsey could take a leading role in increasing global mobility for pension saving.”
Guernsey Finance CEO, Barnaby Molloy, added: “As global mobility continues to shape how businesses operate and how people build long‑term financial security, pension provision needs to be practical, well‑governed and capable of working across jurisdictions. Guernsey has developed a depth of experience in this area over many years, supporting employers and individuals through different stages of growth, expansion and international complexity.”
